JCHD inspects and licenses retail food stores and food establishments in Jefferson County.  Our EH staff handles Foodborne illness and food service complaint investigations to assure good food handling practices.  Our staff is always available to answer any questions regarding food handling practices, education and licensing for temporary food events, cottage food permitting and mobile unit licensing.

All food establishments need to have a license through the Jefferson County Health Department. This includes starting a new establishment, or a change of ownership for an existing establishment. Our staff at JCHD encourage food establishment owners contact us early on to review plans and process the license application.
